I Will Build My Church

July 22nd, 2013

Jesus said in, Matthew 16:18And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

The only hope for our troubled land is a true revival within the Churches of our land! But here is the problem we face – Today many people want A Church Tailored To Them rather than A Church That God Has Tailor Built. We cannot Redefine The Church if we hope to see our land saved we must instead Rediscover The Church that Jesus is building. Our hope is not in a more Contemporary Built Church but in a Christ Built Church.
Foundationally we must remember that the Church is the Building, the Body, and the Bride Of Christ.  The Church is a body of born-again, properly baptized believers with scriptural officers which are pastors and deacons, organized to meet for the Worshiping Of God, for the Preaching The Gospel, for Growing The Saints and for the Winning Of Souls. The Church is to carry out the two scriptural ordinances of Believers Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. The Church should be engaged in Evangelizing The Sinner, Edifying The Saint, and Exalting The Saviour.
All across our land today there are many opinions about what kind of a Church that modern America needs. However, I submit to you that our concern ought to be whether we are the kind of Church (Bride) God wants us to be, rather than are we seeker sensitive, contemporary and progressive enough?
A quick look the Churches of Asia Minor in the book of Revelation revels several qualities the Lord is looking for in His Church (His Bride):

1. The Lord Want A Church That Loves Him.
    (Revelation 2:1-5)

2. The Lord Wants A Church That Leans On Him.
    (Revelation 2:8-11)

3. The Lord Wants A Church That Listens To Him.
    (Revelation 2:18-21; 3:20)

4. The Lord Wants A Church That Looks For Him.
    (Revelation 3:1-6)

5. The Lord Wants A Church That Labors For Him.
    (Revelation 3:7-13)

6. The Lord Wants A Church That Lives For Him.
    (Revelation 3:14-19)
More than any one thing He wants a Church where, “….in all things he might have the preeminence.

Many years ago there was a medical missionary in China. Whenever someone came to him for treatment he would always tell them the story of Jesus. One morning before the clinic doors were opened, there came to the missionary an old woman stooped with age. He could tell by the dust on her feet and clothing that she had come a long way. That morning he treated her and as always, told her about his wonderful Saviour. The medical missionary said, “As the rose opens to receive the rays of the noon day sun, so her heart opened to receive the Saviour. Her tears made little rivulets down her dusty cheeks as she opened her heart to Christ.” Several weeks later, there was a knock at the missionary’s door, and there he found the same old woman that had come to him several weeks before. She said, “Sir, He has saved me, and I know He lives within my heart. He has made my life so happy. But Sir, I have forgotten His name. Could you please tell me His name again?” The missionary repeated over and over again the name “Jesus,” and each time the little old lady echoed that name “Jesus.”

Lela Long heard that story and she wrote these words…..
“There have been names that I have loved to Hear
But never has there been a name so Dear
To this heart of Mine as the name Divine
The precious, precious, name of Jesus”
“Jesus is the sweetest name I Know
And He’s just the Same, as His lovely Name
And that’s the reason why I love Him So
For Jesus is the sweetest name I Know”

The Message, Motives and Ministry of the New Testament Church needs to All be about Jesus!
